It all depends. If it's software issues you're having, I'd suggest going open source. :D I haven't bought any software at all for my laptop, all open source downloads:
-Openoffice (openoffice.org) to replace MS Word/PowerPoint/Excel/Access
-Paint.NET (getpaint.net) to replace Adobe Photoshop/MS Paint
-Inkscape (inkscape.org) to replace Adobe Illustrator
-Mozilla Thunderbird to replace MS Outlook (although I don't use it much)
And if you find bugs, there's a community for each one for bugfixin' and question-answerin'. For even more software toys, go to sourceforge.net. There's a section for audio programs, but I haven't looked too hard at it (except for Audacity).
